Maybe remove the pushing by a small amount, like set unit radius to 0.5 or 0.75 to make racing less annoying?
Removing the time Ultralisk is self frozen would be nice. Making the slow aura a passive to turn on or off.
Hydralisk is fine.
Baneling is fine as well.
Having Roach with 6 speed to itself and 2 to others would be nice since you give up the freeze shot if you want max speed.
I also think if you made brutal mode instead of calling it insane would be better since you can add an insane mode later that is mostly impossible.
Adding another ability to the bosses in the random ability calling would be nice on the harder difficulty. Changing the bot2000 name to Bot1600 would match the health of the boss. The ability could be where the bot 1600 jets off the ground and stomps an area within 10 range at random or a small chance to target a player. Having another ability on Odin could be where it uses the same barrage animation but fires three fast moving sniper drones, turns to another runling at a decent rate and does this three times at different players. An easy way to avoid this is make him tinted a distinct color one charging so the player can run around him. Having a max turn rate of 90* to prevent him turning forever, or just have it mark the spot of the runling with a point whether it is there or not. For diablo, I think you can just reduce the time to cast an ability from 10 seconds to 7 or something for more ability usage. Just copy the ability trigger with a 7 second periodic event and turn it on when brutal diablo starts.
nice suggestions, especially pushing is really annoying, since it can punish you staying back to help out noobs. Don't wanna know how often i died because i got stuck at a corpse.
I disagree with the roach speed change though. Roach is a support unit, nerfing the speed boost it gives to others would be completely against the purpose of it. Also i feel like speedwise roach is fine as is imo, with 6 speed it would be faster than any lings that's not completely useless at bosses.
You know that it would still give speed to allies and that it would only be like 10 speed points above lings if it gives up on bullet freeze (assuming lings go 140 speed). That is like lings going without shield. But lings would still be faster with the boost because it would give 2 speed. I say this because roach would have the ability to race with lings as a no shield unit. I mean he could alter the swiftness as a passive speed that drains energy and gives the host 6 with allies 4, thus making any unit within the range have the speed boost and not a lasting buff. Hydra's, Ultra's and Roaches could train with the same speed with that combo. Lings would still be faster as they always are. and for the point about bosses, roaches still suck on them, so it wouldn't matter if they were faster.
Mostly because I want a unit that can race lings and doesn't have an invulner(ability), heh. Plus, the roach is never used and it's a final unlock unit.
Speaking of that, Zergling 0 score, Baneling 1000 score, Hydralisk 5000 score, Ultralisk 10000 score, Roach 25000 score, New Hero 50000 score
That would cause noobs to like the unlock system better since 10k score is really easy.
The new hero could be a Swarmhost. I have great ideas for abilities it could have and as always firefly, I would do all the work if you want since map making is semi fun but also semi rage filled (working with rlr 7).
Well actually jables, the only reason I update rlr 7 often is because surge essentially gave me his account so I wouldn't have to send the map to him.
I don't think firefly would be even close to that trusting (mostly because I'm not, lol), and I also didn't ask surge for that either. If I were to work on rlr 4, he would have to publish it each time I sent the map file to him. Anything he updates while I am working on the map would get deleted as well. The options for me updating rlr 4 are 1, he give me access to his account and stops working on rlr 4. 2, he stops working on rlr 4 and we wait till he comes back and takes a look at the version I send back to him. All require him to leave, and the only one I think would ever happen would mean it still wouldn't update till he comes back. So essentially, I don't think it would work unless he works on it, take a short break and gives me the map and I make minor changes and send it back, kinda like what I did with surge for a while. This should tell you just how hard it is to have multiple people work on a map.
Some real-time refresher might work but still only allows one person to work on the map for a period of time.
Maybe add more opportunities for people to earn EXP. For example Team Mode has it so people vote for the next level, so maybe give EXP multiplied by the number of people who finish the level to everyone to encourage "teamwork". Just a thought
I also think roach speed as an aura with a slight range increase would be much better than it is now, since currently it can be really frustrating to carry noobs, since they are always mostly out of range. Still think the speed is fine, with the shield nerf, you can't really shield while racing anyways. The bigger problem imo is that the 2nd roach skill is just completely useless 99% of the time. Imagine if the 2nd skill had a multiplier to XP gained for the roach and a smaller multiplier for everyone in the game (like the arbiter in runling dodge), then everyone would like to have a roach in the game and it would be a bit faster to level than other ling as well. I think that way, roach would still fulfill that noob carry role and together with boost as aura, be much more comfortable to play.
@Eske: people would still leave team mode, since it would be just as boring and time inefficient as it is now. Maybe if you change teammode like in RLR7, that anyone who finished can vote for next level without needing majority, it would be better.
@Firefly: Is it possible to increase the time that it takes for runlings that get revived to block other runlings? The way it is right now, it happens often that you get stuck behind a corpse. We died once again today because of this and it's really the most frustrating way to lose a game.
I like roach better as a speed unit and I happen to also like the freeze ability.
From a perspective of map making, the revive thing would only be changed by making it a smaller unit radius.
Ye, figured that would be the case, since that block seems to start as soon as the unburrow starts. To be honest, pushing in general should just be removed or greatly reduced. Just makes the game frustrating without really adding anything to it and discourages teamplay, since you'll be more likely to fuck up if you run with others. Wasn't the unit radius in rlr 7 pretty much 0? I remember liking that a lot.
Why is there a chaser on lvl 9, how are we suppose to sit on the first lane and watch all the scrubs die, constantly? Every think about that, NO. You only think of yourself. Jeez. TRASH GAME.
